About the Founder
As the Founder and Director of Lawbella, I bring over a decade of expertise in the legal and compliance landscape. Holding an LLB and being an admitted attorney, I am also a Certified Information Privacy Professional, and a Certified DORA Senior Lead Manager.
I understand that in this digital world and with the rise in technical regulations that lawyers need to expand their knowledge beyond the traditional approach to law in order to effectively help business.
This blend of credentials as well as my experience underscores my comprehensive grasp of law, privacy, information security, compliance and IT governance, risk and compliance.
In the legal, technology, information security, and cybersecurity sectors, particularly within the finance and technology industries, we bring a versatile and innovative approach to our clients.

About Richard Thompson
Admitted as an Attorney in 2015, Richard has wide-ranging experience drawn from both legal practice, in-house legal counsel and legal consulting roles. Having worked in-house for both start-ups as well as established businesses across e-Learning, digital media, e-commerce and public/legislative industries, Richard is well placed and passionate about helping SME’s to establish and enhance their legal frameworks.
His specialties include nuanced business legal advice; drafting, vetting and negotiating all kinds of commercial agreements and company policies (including those involving Intellectual Property in which he holds a Master’s degree); establishing robust data-protection and “access to information” compliance frameworks; and assisting with in-house labour law matters.
Outside the legal realm, Richard is an ardent sport lover, passionate (albeit limited) guitar player, avid reader, crime documentary watcher, and family man who loves going on walks with his wife, son, feisty pomeranian and slightly less feisty pug.
About Yolande Gething
Yolande is a Certified Information Security Manager through ISACA and is currently pursuing their Certified Information Systems Auditor Certification. She has held various roles within Information Technology departments for different global companies since 1998, and specifically in the Information Security Management space over the last 16 years.
In addition to all aspects of information security management and governance, Yolande has experience implementing and maintaining ISO 27001 compliant information security management systems, performing ISO 27001 internal audits, performing gap analysis assessments for numerous global privacy regulations and implementing privacy compliance controls. Yolande also has experience with managing technology projects and previously completed formal project management training and achieved certification.
Yolande is passionate about information security and governance and wants to help companies identify and mitigate their information security and privacy risks.
